GP14 Welsh National Championships
A successful weekend for the 70th anniversaryDovey Yacht Club was chosen to host the GP14 Welsh National Championships for the 70th anniversary of the GP14 Class Association due to it's strong links with Aberdyfi.
After a 2 year postponement we witnessed some fantastic sailing over the weekend. The weather was kind and we were able to hold 5 out of the 6 races planned.
Two local boats entered (The Hicksons, Graham and Frank and the sailing fleet was led by current world GP champion Ian Dobson and his crew Andy Tunnicliffe (pictured).
For those of you who attended, there was a real sense of pride at DYC.
John Tildesley who organised the event said, "It was truly a great event. All the individual efforts of the volunteers at our Club made a really good team and we had a lot of fun too. The weather definitely helped and it put DYC back on the GP14 Association radar."
The prize giving at the end of the two day event cemented the momentous occasion. You can view the result
We would like to thank John and all of you who attended the event.
Chelmarsh visit us on the 21st and 22nd May and we look forward to more exceptional sailing!
