Sports Wales' Be Active Fund

Awards £24,080 to DYC

Dovey Yacht Club  - Clwb HwylioDyfi have been awarded a grant of £24, 080 by Sport Wales’ Be Active Wales Fund aimed at supporting grassroots sports clubs in Wales. The club has to contribute 10% of the grant.

Thanks to the Welsh Government and money from The National Lottery, the Be -Active Wales Fund enables clubs to apply for grants to get more people participating, or to help keep people taking part at clubs and activities into the future.

Huw Jones-Williams, project lead for the club, said, “The project, ‘Hwylio am Hwyl ~ Sailing for Fun’, is designed to increase local participation in enjoying sailing on the Dyfi Estuary for all ages and abilities. The grant will fund four new boats, different sized sail sets and coach development. Thanks to @WelshGovernment and @LottoGoodCauses players for their support.”

Des George, Club Commodore and RYA lifetime volunteer award recipient 2021 said: “This funding will make a massive difference to our club. We will use it to ensure our club can increase active sailing participation and become even more inclusive and sustainable within the local community.”
